Category 1: Dissertation
This year’s winner is Jill Adelson of the University of Louisville. The dissertation is titled Examining the Effects of Gifted Programming in Mathematics and Reading Using ECLS-K.(Early Childhood Longitudinal Study-Kindergarten Cohort).
Category 2: Advances in methodology.
The winner in this category was Michael A. Gottfried for his study Evaluating the Relationship between Student Attendance and Achievement in Urban Elementary and Middle Schools: An Instrumental Variables Approach.
Category 3: Education Program Evaluations
The winners in this category were Susan Voelkel, Georgia Hughes-Webb, Jessica Gore, and Charity Sheffield of Edvantia, Inc., Charleston, West Virginia, for their study Project TEACH II: The Constitution in Historic Context: Year 3 Evaluation and Summative Conclusions.
Category 4: Planning, Policy, or Management Research
The winners in this category were Elaine Allensworth, Christopher Mazzeo, and Stephen Ponisciak from the Consortium on Chicago School Reform for their study The Schools Teachers Leave.
Category 5: Summary Reports, NCLB Informational Materials
The winning report was Student Success/Learning to 18 Pathways Study Summary Report by Elana Gray, Christine Frank, Rosanne Brown, Kim Bennett and Paul Favaro.
Category 6: Small District Research, Evaluation, Assessment and Accountability Reports
No award was given in this category.
