Winter 2010 Message from the Vice President

It is very hard for me to believe that almost three years have passed since I took office as Vice President of Division D. I want to begin this, my last newsletter, by thanking all of the many wonderful colleagues in Division D that I have had the privilege to work with over the past three years. I took on the responsibility of Division D Vice President with some degree of trepidation, having no idea what a rewarding experience it would be for me. I believe that AERA is an extremely important organization and that Division D has the very important role in the organization of setting high standards for educational research and supporting and mentoring young professionals working in educational research. I am very grateful that I have had the opportunity to support this role over the past three years.

As you are all aware, Barbara Dodd will take responsibility as Division D Vice President following this year’s annual meeting. Barbara and I have been working very closely this fall and winter to ensure a smooth transition in leadership for the Division. One of the most important activities that we have been working on is planning for this year’s annual meeting in Denver. I know that in these difficult economic times that some of you will not be able to attend the Annual Meeting and I am very sorry about that. I’m hopeful that those of you who do attend the meeting can make your papers readily available to your colleagues who are not able to be at the meeting so that they will at least be able to benefit from your re-search. Click here to read more.
