AERA Speaks on "Texas Bathroom Bill"

Senate Bill 6—the Texas Privacy Act—was introduced in the Texas legislature on January 5, 2017. The proposed legislation, referred to as the “bathroom bill,” mirrors the ideas in North Carolina’s HB2 which was enacted in March 2016. The proposed Texas bill would require people to use the bathroom that corresponds to the gender on their birth certificate, hence discriminating against transgender persons. Read more
