New Members Elected to AERA SIG Executive Committee

Margaret J. Maaka (University of Hawaii-Manoa) and Shelley Zion (Rowan University) have been elected to the AERA Special Interest Group (SIG) Executive Committee. Voting closed May 16.

  • Dr. Maaka is a Professor in the Department of Curriculum Studies in the College of Education at the University of Hawaii-Manoa’s College of Education. She will serve as the SIG Executive Committee Chair and will also serve as the SIG representative on AERA Council.
  • Dr. Zion is a Professor of Urban Education in the College of Education at Rowan University and the Executive Director of the Center for Access, Success, and Equity. She was elected as a member-at-large.

Both will serve three-year terms.

The SIG Executive Committee provides general oversight for the operations of SIGs and makes recommendations to the Association Council regarding policies and procedures for the formation and dissolution of SIGs.
