Post-doctoral Position
Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning at University of Virginia
Review of materials will begin on March 15.
This post-doctoral individual will join a team of education and developmental science researchers to conduct an innovative study of a Social and Emotional Learning Intervention, the *Responsive Classroom*(R) (RC) Approach.
The project is a large-scale, IES-funded, randomized controlled trial of the *Responsive Classroom(R) *Approach in 24 elementary schools. The primary aim is to examine the ways in which the *RC* Approach relates to classroom quality and children's academic outcomes in students in grades 3-5. A large portion of the investigation will be focused on examining classroom processes associated with effective mathematics instruction. There will be ample opportunities to build in smaller research studies on social and emotional learning, youth bonding toward school, school leadership, and mathematics education.
The post-doc will play a major role in selecting and refining instruments, developing protocols, establishing validity and reliability, conducting data analyses, presenting findings, and writing up work for publication. Work will be performed within the University of Virginia Social Development Lab (www.socialdevelopmentlab.org) in the University of Virginia's Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL).
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Education, Developmental Psychology, or an educationally related field; demonstrated proficiency measurement development, data analysis and assessment; and a track record of presenting and publishing research.
