This category recognizes an individual who has effectively established a strong, beneficial relationship between education research and practice through direct involvement with the education community.

This award is meant to stimulate and recognize outstanding contributions that individuals have made to increasing practitioner and lay-group understanding of the contributions of educational research to the improvement of educational practice. The "Interpretive Scholarship" category recognizes individuals who have published in a non-research publication, such as an interpretive article, testimony etc. (i.e., not a book-length work), that relates research to practice. The "Professional Service" category recognizes a individuals who have related research findings to practice through direct involvement with the educational community.
