This award was named in honor of E.F. Lindquist, a pioneering scholar and researcher who co-founded The American College Testing Program (ACT). This award is co-sponsored by AERA and ACT and is given annually for outstanding applied or theoretical research in the field of testing and measurement. It acknowledges a body of research, as opposed to a single work, of an empirical, theoretical, or integrative nature that, ideally, advances the twin goals of greater understanding and improved use of testing and measurement techniques.

Although the research does not need to have led directly to improved educational practices, it should nevertheless be rich in suggestions for additional research that does hold such promise. Particular emphasis will be given to research that has advanced the companion goals of greater understanding and improved use of testing and measurement techniques. Awardees may represent in a broad array of disciplines, such as education and psychology.

Nominations must include a detailed letter outlining the basis for the nomination, including a description of the research and how the candidate is uniquely qualified to receive the award. Please also include a current copy of the nominee’s CV. Nominations must be emailed to governance@aera.net by Thursday, January 15, 2015. In addition to giving the 2015 E.F. Lindquist Award Lecture at the Annual Meeting, the AERA Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics will have the right of first refusal to publish an article emanating from that lecture.
